Brownfield Developer Jim Jacoby Is Aglow Over Alternative Energy
Business
On the 15th floor of his office building overlooking
Atlantic Station, Jim Jacoby sits in the conference room, the sleeves of
his plaid shirt rolled up almost to his elbows. Site plans, charts and
renderings fill the perimeter of the room. The evidence of a serial
entrepreneur is broken only by a huge saltwater aquarium filled with
florescent-looking fish.
The founder, CEO and chairman of Atlanta-based Jacoby Development is
perhaps best known for his work redeveloping Atlantic Station, the
138-acre mixed-use project on the former site of Atlantic Steel that has
become synonymous with smart growth and a rejuvenated Midtown
Atlanta.
Q&A with Lisa Dongoske, executive vice president,
NorthMarq
After serving 12 years with Minneapolis-based mortgage
banking firm NorthMarq, Lisa Dongoske has been promoted to executive
vice president of the firm’s property management group. In this new
role, she will lead the transition team for the firm’s recent
acquisition of Opus Property Management that brings contracts to manage
170 properties, 11 of which are LEED certified.
The new position is a nice fit for Dongoske who has been leading the
charge to green NorthMarq’s portfolio over the past few years.
Excluding the Opus purchase, NorthMarq’s portfolio of managed
properties includes two LEED-certified buildings and several others are
in the process of obtaining LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations and
Maintenance certifications. Another 14 NorthMarq properties have
achieved EnergyStar and the firm is working to achieve the same
designation for 20 more.
Burlington, Mass., Achieves LEED Gold
Developed by the Gutierrez Co., 5 Wall Street officially
became Burlington’s first LEED-certified office building built from
the ground up. The office tower is only the fifth LEED-Gold Core & Shell
(CS) structure in Massachusetts, and the fourth new office building on
the Route 128 corridor to earn such a distinction, according to
Gutierrez.
“The LEED Gold certification confirms the company’s approach to
sustainable building and allows employees and visitors at 5 Wall Street
to take pride and comfort knowing that they are working in a healthier
building while also reducing their impact on the environment,” said
Scott Weiss, managing director of commercial development for
Gutierrez.
