Forensic Architect Brings Energy Strategies to BOMA Conference in
Philadelphia
Architect Roger Morse, president of Troy, N.Y.-based
building sciences firm Morse Zehnter Associates, won’t be the keynote
speaker at the annual conference of the Building Owners and Managers
Association (BOMA) International in Philadelphia in late June. But he
easily could be.
Morse, who will present a seminar called “Confessions of an energy
engineer” to teach conference attendees about energy-saving tactics,
has a lengthy resume that includes examining water-logged buildings in
New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and a 40-story tower in New York
that was contaminated by toxic dust in the collapse of the World Trade
Center on 9/11.
Online Spending for Commercial Real Estate Marketing Reaches $2.9
Billion
Spending for online commercial real estate marketing is
projected to reach a record $2.9 billion in 2009, according to
Williamsburg, Va.-based media research firm Borrell Associates Inc. That
represents a substantial increase from the previous record of $2.5
billion in 2008, according to Borrell.
The figures document the trend toward increased use of the Web as a
marketing tool. Nearly half of all spending for commercial property
marketing last year, 48%, was allocated online, Borrell reports. That
includes e-mail marketing and spending for property-related Web
sites.
Streetcar Fills Seattle Developer’s Marketing
Desires
When Seattle-based commercial real estate developer The
Blume Co. moved to a new headquarters in the city, Los Angeles marketing
firm Plush Real Estate Media created an eye-catching way for Blume to
showcase its premier properties and capabilities or brokers and
potential tenants.
Plush constructed a movie theater inside a replica Seattle streetcar,
and hired a local video production crew to shoot footage of Blume’s
favorite developments and a testimonial from Washington Governor Chris
Gregoire. The video is projected on a high definition screen within the
streetcar theater, where clients view it.
