In a letter to House Education and Labor Committee Chairman Rep.
George Miller, D-Calif., American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA)
President Donald Hart said he supported the legislator's proposed bill,
which would compel OSHA to issue an interim and final standard on
combustible dust, but questioned whether the agency could finalize such
a standard in 18 months.

5. CSB Video Provides Details of BP Texas City
Blast
Marking the third anniversary of the BP Texas City refinery
explosion, which killed 15 workers and injured approximately 180 others,
the Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB) released a
video that details the causes of the explosion and what should be
learned from the tragedy.

6. Study Finds Diacetyl Exposure Harmful to
Mice
A new study conducted by scientists at the National Institute of
Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) in collaboration with Duke
University researchers shows that exposure to the chemical diacetyl, a
component of artificial butter flavoring, can be harmful to the nose and
airways of mice.
