Coupons.com Extends iPhone Grocery App to Loyalty Cards

Web/mobile coupon platform Coupons.com has enhanced is offering to registered users by letting them choose and load CPG discounts to many major supermarket loyalty programs, either online or via their mobile phones. Smartphone users can get the benefit of the enhancement with an upgrade of Coupons.com’s free GroceryIQ app; but those with regular feature phones can avail themselves of a new Coupons.com Web site freshly optimized for mobile access. The loyalty-program connection could drive a new burst of interest in mobile couponing for CPG goods, since as Coupons.com CEO Steven Boal points out, flashing your mobile screen multiple times to a supermarket checker for a load grocery discounts could slow lines up more than trying to pay by check. Kmart Offers Layaway for Web Shoppers

Layaway worked so well for Kmart last holiday season—with use of the service increased by double-digits, the retailer says—that it has expanded the program this year to include shoppers who want to buy online. They can zero in on the nearest participating store, have in-stock items put aside, and make and manage their payments either on the Web or in that store. True, they have to make one actual trip to pick up the goods once they’re paid for. But who can get through a holiday without at least one trip to a store? Sears Launches Online Home-Repair Community Site

Meanwhile, Kmart sister company Sears has come out of a two-year “public beta” on ManageMyHome.com, an online community that offers expert and forum advice to do-it-yourselfers—everything from step-by-step instructions in a range of home fix-up projects to a broad collection of online manuals and user guides for appliances and tools (including those not sold by Sears.)
