Coke's North American President Heads to Clorox
By Patricia Odell
    Knauss                Douglas
Donald R. Knauss, the president of Coca-Cola North America, has resigned to take the chairman and CEO post at Clorox, a job he called "the opportunity of a lifetime."

Replacing Knauss is J. Alexander M. Douglas Jr., Coca-Cola's senior VP and chief customer officer. Douglas joined the company in 1988 as a district sales manager in Coca-Cola USA Fountain.

Knauss, 55, has been with the company for 12 years and in the role of president of Coca-Cola North America for two years. He starts the new job at Clorox in early October. He began his career with Coca-Cola in 1994 as senior VP-marketing for The Minute Maid Co.

At Clorox, Knauss replaces Robert W. Matschullat, who has worked as Clorox's interim chairman since March after Gerald E. Johnston, 58, suffered a heart attack and stepped aside. He will remain on the board. (Watch for further details in PROMO Xtra)
