Amazon, Wal-Mart Know How to Keep Web Shoppers Happy: Survey
By Brian Quinton
Amazon.com, founded by CEO and
president Jeff Bezos, is one
of two Web sites to get
straight A's for customer
satisfaction, according to this
year’s ForeSee survey.
E-commerce may have outperformed brick-and-mortar retail this holiday season, but that doesn’t mean shoppers were happy about how they were treated at those merchant Web sites

The latest “Holiday Top 40 Online Retail Satisfaction Index” from ForeSee Results and FGI Research says that only two Web sellers among that top tier of brands, Amazon.com and Netflix.com, earned ratings of “excellent” from users this holiday season.

Both e-marketers received grades of 84 in the index, which is based on the methodology of the American Customer Satisfaction Index from the University of Michigan. A score of 80 or higher on the 100-point scale is taken to indicate the highest level of shopper satisfaction. Amazon.com’s 84 represented a two-point improvement over the retailer’s 2007 index score, while Netflix’s rating was down two points from last year.

Loomis Agency Sets Fire to its Socks This Holiday: Promo Interactive
By Brian Quinton
Last week I blogged about how a number of the holiday e-cards I’ve gotten from digital marketing agencies this season seem to be showing more creativity and range than in previous years—as if this year, more than in the past, agencies were using these bread-and-butter messages to really showcase their talents.

But the Dallas-based Loomis Agency says it was simply intending to put out something clever and fun when it wrote, designed and produced a year-end video card using sock puppets to provide a hilarious commentary on the year’s business meltdown. The card was intended to be mailed to Loomis’ various internal lists.

NHL Runs Wrigleyville Fest for Winter Classic
By Richard Tedesco
The National Hockey League is turning Wrigley Field’s Waveland Avenue from a haven for home run ballhawks to a street festival celebrating outdoor hockey in the run-up to this season’s Winter Classic game.

On Dec. 31, and New Year’s Day, the corner of West Waveland and North Clark Streets – prime turf in the Wrigleyville environs outside the historic ballpark - is being transformed into NHL Winter Classic Spectator Plaza, a free fan festival before the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic game between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings at Wrigley.
