The Consumer Electronics Association and the National Association of Broadcasters want to find the people who remember those days … and give one of them all the gear needed to upgrade to a digital signal.

On May 1, the two trade organizations launched an online contest to find “America’s Rabbit Ears Pioneers.” Announced by Florence Henderson—TV’s “Carol Brady”—the competition is soliciting photos and short stories about individuals who still rely on analog TV sets and rooftop or set-top antennae for their broadcast signals.

Arizona Blue Cross Courts Hispanics with Webisodes

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona has launched a marketing campaign targeting Hispanic consumers with Webisodes as a central element.

The campaign uses five three-minute Webisodes aimed at various ages to convey its message. The insurer is building awareness through a print campaign in Spanish-language newspapers and magazines statewide.

Hostess Launches Instant-Win Game Tied to Baseball

Hostess is out with an instant-win game tied to one of America’s favorite sport—baseball.

Millions of packages of Hostess Twinkies, Cupcakes, Donettes and Baseballs that carry baseball-themed imaging feature a game code printed in or on the boxes. The codes can be entered online at www.hostesscakes.com or by text message with the short code “4TRIPS” to 487477 to learn if they are a winner.

Volkswagen Strikes MLS Sponsorship Deals

Volkswagen has scored deals to be the official car of Major League Soccer and the primary sponsor of D.C. United, one of the U.S. pro soccer league’s most successful franchises.

The one-year MLS deal will give VW signage at the Pepsi MLS All-Star Game, the MLS Cup and the MLS championship match. It will also give VW leverage for local activation with MLS teams through its auto dealerships.
