Tractor scraper
The Caterpillar 627G wheel tractor scraper has a new electronically controlled scraper engine that incorporates dual power capabilities. The unit has a productivity enhancing operator station, a redesigned scraper bowl with 10 percent more capacity, and the latest electronic monitoring system to simplify maintenance. The 627G tandem-powered scraper uses the Cat 2408E tractor engine, which produces net power of 450 hp in lower gears and 485 hp in higher gears. It is available in a push-pull configuration that features a hydraulically actuated bail and cushioned plate bolted to the front of the tractor and a hook attached to the rear of the scraper.

Log splitter
Rayco introduces the LS 2526 gas powered, tow-behind log splitter. This machine provides 25 tons of splitting force, powered by a 13-hp Honda engine developing 2,500 psi of pressure. Special features include a 600 pound log lift, auto cycle, and hydraulic wedge lift. The cycle time is 10 seconds and a four-way wedge is standard.

Lifting
Articulating boom
Snorkel introduces the AB50J articulating telescoping boom with a platform height of 50 feet, a stowed height of 6 feet, 11 inches, and a horizontal reach of 28 feet. The unit has a proportional ramp-on control for drive, a variable speed controlled boom and platform functions, and automatic braking. The AB50J comes equipped with a printed circuit board with on-board LED diagnostics, 180-degree hydraulic platform rotation, and 12-volt emergency operated power. Other options include platform work lights, a flashing light, a drive motion alarm, and a sandblast protection kit.

Rough-terrain crane
Grove introduces the RT800E rough-terrain crane, which features a standard hydraulically installed and removed counterweight. This allows quick removal for transport and fast installation at the job site. The E series cab has tinted glass throughout and a deluxe seat incorporating armrest-mounted hydraulic single-axis controllers. The boom is a 38- to 142-foot five-section, sequenced synchronized full power megaform boom. A standard 31 to 56 feet offsettable lattice swingaway extension offsets 0 degrees, 20 degrees, and 40 degrees and stows alongside the base boom section. With the swingaway installed, maximum tip height is 205 feet.

Truss boom
Star Industries introduces the Quick-Tach truss boom that is designed with rugged construction for increased durability for easy of transportation. Available in 12-foot or 15-foot models, they provide the additional reach needed to set trusses and other materials on a large structure with less labor. The 2,000-pound rating provides ample load capacity. The low profile design permits transporting the truss boom underneath the forklift on the same trailer.

Carbide blade
Makita's Mforce 7 1/4 inch X 24 tooth carbide-tipped blade comes equipped with six cutting surfaces and a two-pointed tip. The face of the tooth is beveled and has 10-degree angles that create sharp cutting edges that shear the wood instead of chipping away for a faster cut. The blade also features a thin kerf design to pull less power from the tool giving operators a much more efficient cut.

Portable units
The portable units from United CoolAir are available as vertical, horizontal and trailer mounted units providing up to 25 tons of cooling and 150 kW of heating. The units are designed for temporary air conditioning applications such as emergency back-up, spot cooling/heating and temporary structures. The company offers standard unit configurations or will tailor a unit design specifically for the customer. Units can be cooling only, heat only or cool/heat.

Sander/polisher
The SP18VA 7-inch sander/polisher from Hitachi includes a powerful motor, has a compact size and a feather-light weight. The high-powered motor delivers 2,220 watts and the unit weighs 6.2 pounds. The SP18VA's ball bearing construction has been modified to contain iron-bearing bushings that improve the heat resistance of the bearing chamber and increase performance and product life. For increased comfort, the sander/polisher comes equipped with a loop handle that offers users a larger grip surface and different grip angles.

Stump grinder
The SG1114 stump grinder from Bluebird has an 11 hp Honda engine and the SG1314 has a 13 hp Honda engine. Both have cyclone air filters, Noram automatic centrifugal clutches and Hayes brake calipers. The adjustable handle with four height adjustments positions enables the user to adjust the angle of the handle to maintain a comfortable and safe stance throughout the grinding process. The compact design offers clean sight lines and makes it easy to maneuver in tight spaces.

Tubing cutter
The Ridgid Model 117 self-acting midget cutter, a new tubing cutter, features a spring-loaded cutter wheel with self-feeding action for easy, automatic cutting. The user can cut the tubing by simply tightening the knob once. The cutter wheel cuts small-diameter pipe and tubing made of hard and soft copper, aluminum and brass. Weighing just 4 ounces, it is adjustable to any size tubing from 3/16 inch to 15/16 inch.
