Excavator
Volvo's EC700B excavator features the Volvo Advanced Control System that balances engine power with hydraulic pump output to provide maximum production with minimal fuel consumption. The EC700B features a Volvo D16C EAE3 425-hp engine, a lift capacity of 34,680 pounds, a maximum reach of 43 feet, 3 inches, a digging depth of 27 feet, 7 inches, a breakout force of 67,750 pounds and an operating weight of 148,810 to 154,980 pounds. The excavator's digging and lifting forces are the result of the high-torque engine and its ability to drive a unique hydraulic system so that both high pressure and flow are achieved.

Grade control system
Trimble offers the GCS600 grade control system for excavators, which is designed for excavation, trenching, grading and profile work. Typical applications include excavating basements, foundations and footers, flat bottom and simple slope trenching, flat slope grading and embankments, and profile excavations of canals or batters.

"The GCS600 for excavators is a highly flexible depth and slope system for excavation, trenching, grading and profile work," says Jeff Winke, director of public relations and special projects for High Velocity Communications, which represents Trimble. "Designed for both tracked and wheeled hydraulic excavators, it is ideal for earthmoving, site preparation and general contractors looking for an economical and easy-to-use grade control system to improve their productivity and profitability."

Excavator
The 330 LX Link-Belt excavator by LBX has been updated with a Tier 3 emission-certified, 271-hp engine, which uses a common-rail fuel-injection system, a fuel cooler and turbocharger with intercooler. The Isuzu AH-6HK1XYSS engine reduces nitrogen oxide emissions while retaining performance, reliability and durability by using exhaust gas recirculation. To provide additional versatility, auxiliary piping brackets are included as standard, so operators using allied attachments such as hammers, thumbs, compactors, shears, grapples or crushers can install aftermarket hydraulic plumbing without the need for welding or painting. The 330 LX also features a "green plug" for draining engine oil to prevent spills and to keep the environment clean.

    Stump grinder
The model 2100 self-propelled stump grinder from Bandit Industries features a 2-speed drive system that allows operators to quickly reach a stump, yet moves slowly enough to travel over rough and uneven terrain. For those operating in wet and muddy conditions, the 2100 can be set up for 4-wheel drive. Optional dual tires also provide stability and flotation when traveling over rough terrain.

"Narrow enough to fit through a 36-inch gate, the Bandit 2100 stump grinder goes virtually anywhere, and now with a 35-hp Briggs & Stratton engine, disposes of stumps quicker and more efficiently than before," says Ray Eluskie, marketing manager for Bandit Industries. "A custom trailer is also available for the 2100, equipped with a mesh screen drop-down ramp and a pinning device that secures the front of the grinder to the trailer."
