Earth-Moving
Compact excavator
Designed for tight, congested or busy jobsites, the Volvo EC35C features a short radius superstructure that turns inside the width of its tracks. The Volvo ECR48C can also be equipped with an optional counterweight to maximize use of longer arms or heavy attachments. It is powered by a new-generation Volvo diesel engine for dependable performance, fuel efficiency, low emissions, low noise and ease of serviceability. A Volvo-patented mono-pump hydraulic system efficiently uses one system for all hydraulics, delivering precise control and power.

Skid-steer loaders
Case unveils its new 400 Series 3 line of skid-steer loaders. The new machines feature more powerful engines, a redesigned cab and improved serviceability for all models. Tier 3-certified engine power is now available on the Case 410, 420 (pictured), 430, 435, 440, 445, 450 and 465 skid steers. Net horsepower for the line ranges from 57 to 83. In all models in the series, the cabs feature a 7-percent increase in headroom and a 6-percent increase in lap-bar width, along with improved forward, side, rear and overhead visibility.

Demolition Hammers & Tools
Demolition hammers
DeWalt introduces the D25899K (pictured), D25901K and D25941K heavy-duty demolition hammers, which are designed to perform a wide range of concrete removal applications in demanding construction environments. These hammers are designed with spring-loaded dust seals that keep contaminants from entering the tool. The D25901K and the D25941K are designed with a comprehensive electronics package that provides users with the ability to start the tool softly on contact and maintain optimum performance under load throughout any demolition application. The D25899K and D25901K generate 18.5 foot-pounds of impact energy, while the D25941K offers 22 foot-pounds.

Hydraulic breaker attachment
The Toro hydraulic breaker attachment is designed for breaking up footings, sidewalks, foundations and other solid structures. The breaker features a multi-position mounting head, allowing users to break materials in both horizontal and vertical positions. It uses 175 foot-pounds of force and delivers 1,200 bpm to break materials to a depth of 11 inches. The breaker uses the Toro Dingo’s hydraulics system, which produces up to 12 gpm of flow at 3,000 psi of hydraulic power.

Floorcare
Hand-held floor scraper
General Equipment introduces the FCS5 Rip-R-Stripper hand-held unit specifically designed for scraping floor coverings in confined spaces. With a cutting width of 5 inches, the FCS5 is designed for use in closets, stairways, foyers and other small work areas where larger equipment is difficult to maneuver. The unit operates from a standard 115-volt power source and cuts at a rate of 2,500 oscillations per minute. It also removes vinyl composition tiles, sheet linoleum, rubber-backed carpet and a wide variety of mastics and adhesives. The random orbit blade action of the unit maximizes material removal rates, while also reducing operator fatigue.

Dry carpet cleaning system
The Host dry carpet cleaning system is a low-moisture method that leaves carpets clean and dry immediately after use. The system begins with the Host dry carpet cleaner, which is an all-natural product containing a balanced blend of moisture, detergent and a small amount of safe-to-use solvents. It dissolves, absorbs and traps greasy, oily dirt, spots and odors. The dry clean machine works the cleaner through to dislodge embedded soil. The machine also lifts and straightens the carpet pile, making it durable and extending its life.

Vacuum cleaner hose
Flexaust Fayflex MG=Stretch is a seamless, extruded and overlapped vacuum cleaner hose that features 3:1 or 5:1 stretch ratios, depending upon size and construction. Designed to OEM specifications, it is available in PVC or urethane and PVC-blended compounds with coated wire to meet manufacturer’s requirements for stretch-ability, chemical- and abrasion-resistance. Available in 1 ¼-inch to 2-inch I.D. sizes and lengths of up to 50 feet, the Dayflex MG-Stretch is offered in standard clear, gray and black. Suited for on-board tool applications in floorcare products, this hose meets ASTM 450 STD test methods and is RoHS compliant.

Outdoor Power Equipment
Self-propelled stump cutter
The design of Rayco’s RG 1645 self-propelled stump cutter combines a 44-hp Kubota turbo-diesel engine, 4-wheel-drive, and 59-inch cutting width into a compact machine with a low center of gravity. The pivot design keeps the engine’s weight low to the frame. Fold-down chip retainers provide loads of chip capacity and minimize cleanup time. The unit also can fit through a 36-inch gate and has a hydraulic backfill blade.

Leaf blower
Billy Goat Industries introduces the Small Force leaf blower, which weighs 76 pounds and features a 6-hp commercial engine. The compact leaf blower also comes equipped with industry-leading handles, large wheels and the patented Aim-N-Shoot feature designed for leaf cleanup.

Standing mower
The Stander ZK large deck standing mower from Wright Manufacturing features deck widths from 52 to 72 inches, which are larger than Wright’s traditional Stander. The ZK is powered by engines up to 37 hp. The decks are deeper, the wheels are larger and the fuel capacity is greater, making the new mower designed for sports fields. The ZK also offers the benefits of Wright’s traditional Stander, such as low center of gravity for hillside stability, shorter overall length for added maneuverability and the ability for the operator to step off the spring-suspended stand-on platform in case of an emergency or to pick up debris.

Other Products
Motor technology
WEG Electric Motors has developed a control regimen for standard totally enclosed fan-cooled induction motors. This OptimalFlux technology is designed for use in driving loads that require constant torque over variable speeds, such as those encountered with compressors and conveyor belts. It also enables a standard motor to operate at a much cooler temperature across its entire speed range.

Location system
LoJack introduces a new comprehensive solution for fleet managers that layers asset management capabilities on top of the company’s stolen vehicle recovery system. LoCate + LoJack features the company’s easy-to-use and straightforward asset management system, which is based on GPS technology. It is a ruggedized system designed for installation in 12- or 24-volt equipment. To deliver a more robust solution, LoJack coupled its new asset management offering with its stolen vehicle recovery system. LoCate includes several key functions that enable fleet managers to analyze assets. The location-on-demand feature enables users to access real-time location of equipment via GPS data to manage equipment availability, secure accurate location for equipment pick-up and improve workforce productivity. The geofencing feature allows users to set pre-defined radial boundaries around equipment and receive alerts if that equipment exits the area. The engine hours feature provides users with daily engine hour data for more effective maintenance planning and customer billing. And the reporting feature creates user-defined reports to track equipment utilization and maintenance scheduling.

Product Spotlight
Kobelco Excavators Prove Their Worth in Bridge Demolition
Greg Bair Track Hoe Service put its fleet of Kobelco excavators to the test in the demolition of the Nolan Road Bridge, west of Kansas City, Mo. Time was of the essence: demolition of the four-lane interstate overpass, which started at 3 a.m. on a Saturday, had to be completed in 18 hours, before the Monday morning rush hour.

Greg Bair, founder and president of Greg Bair Track Hoe Service, decided to direct this operation himself, as the extreme time pressure on such a complex project required extra attention to coordination. He put his crew to work with twelve Kobelco excavators mounted with breakers, crushers, buckets and cutters, and the demolition was completed ahead of schedule by 3 a.m. on Sunday morning.

“The Kobelco excavators gave an outstanding performance– even the brand new SK295 I had to bring to the job with less than 12 hours of break-in time,” said Bair.

Bair started his company in 1992 with one excavator. Over the years he has grown his business and today he runs a fleet of 21 Kobelco excavators ranging in from 15 tons to 40 tons.
