Heavy Earthmoving Equipment
Tight-tail-swing excavator
The Kubota KX080-3 8-ton,
tight-tail-swing excavator offers more than 14,000 pounds of breakout
force and is designed for work environments where space is limited but
additional power is required. The KX080-3 also features a
direct-injection diesel engine that can drive 14,660 pounds of bucket
force and 8,554 pounds of arm crowd force, but still start easily in the
cold while maintaining fuel efficiency. The excavator also improves
travel by automatically downshifting into low when making turns, moving
on soft earth or in extra-heavy-duty-use situations.

Vibratory soil compactor
Sakai introduces the
CV550 track-driven, vibratory soil compactor. The track drive gives the
machine the necessary traction and gradability to climb steep slopes --
up to 45-degrees -- while compacting. This feature is useful for
landfill slopes, earthen dams and other steep embankments. The CV550
also features 61,729 pounds of centrifugal force, or 917 pounds per
linear inch of total applied force over its 84-inch drum.

Wheel loader
The John Deere 844J wheel
loader is powered by an efficient, electronically controlled, 12.5-liter
John Deere PowerTech diesel engine. The engine features wet-sleeve
cylinder liners for engine cooling. A key feature of the 844J is its
Powershift transmission, which provides smart-shift technology. By
continuously sensing speeds and loads, and adjusting clutch pressures
accordingly, the transmission delivers smooth shifts without any delay.
The braking system is comprised of outboard wet multi-disc brakes that
self-adjust for wear to maintain excellent response.

Backhoes & Attachments
Backhoe attachment
The Toro backhoe attachment is
designed for a variety of applications including digging, loading,
trenching, backfilling and demolition. The backhoe comes standard with a
13-inch-wide bucket, and features a maximum digging depth of 82 inches
and a 78-inch, 2-foot, flat-bottom digging depth. The unit also offers a
71-inch loading height and 113-inch loading reach from the swing pivot.
The backhoe folds up to 34.5 inches wide, adding ease to transportation
and accessing confined spaces.

Backhoe digging
attachment
The Groundbreaker-X BH70-X and BH80-X (pictured) backhoe models
from Woods Equipment Co. are
designed for use with skid steers or 18- to 45-hp compact tractors. The
Groundbreaker-X easily attaches and detaches with either a 3-point or
4-point hitch. Its excavator-style curved boom and large dipper
cylinders offer up to 3,780 pounds of digging force. The curved boom
reaches over objects with better visibility and less repositioning than
a straight boom. A 180-degree swing arc and 180-degree bucket rotation
enable the Groundbreaker-X backhoes to maneuver in and around obstacles.

Compaction Equipment
Tandem asphalt rollers
The TV1000 and TV1200 (pictured) tandem asphalt rollers from Terex feature two spring-loaded scrapers
per drum for improved cleaning of the drums. The TV1000 features an
operating weight of 5,644 pounds, while the TV1200 features a
6,382-pound operating weight. The unit features a 6-in-1 joystick for
streamlined operation, a full tilting hood for easy access to the engine
compartment, and plastic fuel, water and hydraulic tanks that reduce
condensation and are encased in steel for maximum protection. An
electrical diagnostics system alerts the operator with an early warning
if problems should occur.

Plate compactor
attachments
Ingersoll Rand introduces the PAC
Series of plate compactor attachments for carriers ranging from 3,000 to
60,000 pounds. These plate compactors are designed for work in
foundations, seawalls, slopes, trenches and other confined spaces. The
PAC plate compactors have the vibrating force to drive sheet pile into
the ground or pound signposts into granular soils. All plate compactors
in the PAC line have an operating pressure of 2,300 pounds per square
inch and a maximum back pressure of 100 pounds per square inch.

Lighting
Lighting system
Multiquip's Moonlight
Glare-Free Lighting System provides illumination without the need to
constantly inflate the balloon. The system is available with 150-watt,
400-watt and 1,000-watt outputs to match operator lighting requirements.
Push carts, wheeled stands and tripod stands support the balloons at
various heights. The MB150, MB400 and MB1000 are shipped in a storage
case that includes extrusion, balloon bulb, cord, plastic base, blower,
ballast and electric system.

Portable light towers
Allmand introduces the
Maxi-Lite ML 15 and ML 20 portable light towers designed with 15- and
20-kW AVR regulated generators. The Maxi-Lite Arctic Special Package
features components to tailor the model to cold-weather environments. A
heavy-duty enclosure with a full floor, along with a 90-degree-angle air
inlet duct prevents blowing snow from entering the cabinet. Additional
standard features include an engine block heater, heavy-duty battery
with electric battery blanket, remote oil drain, interior compartment
light and tubes in the tires.

Other Products
Battery-charging
technology
DeWalt introduces Nano
technology designed to deliver longer cycle life, lighter weight,
increased performance and an expanded system of tool offerings. The 18V
Nano phosphate lithium ion batteries are compatible with the existing
40-tool system of DeWalt 18-volt tools, and the technology is designed
to provide professional contractors with the flexibility to select the
best chemistry and tool to meet jobsite demands. The Nano phosphate
lithium ion batteries offer the end user increased battery durability
and cycle life, with up to 2,000 recharges. The 18-volt charger is
capable of charging 7.2- to18-volt NiCd, NiMH and Li-ion batteries.
DeWalt will offer three cordless platforms with Nano technology --
36V, 28V and 18V -- providing users with an extensive range of power
tools to meet a variety of user demands on the jobsite.

Engine-mounting system
The Power Shifter rapid-change engine mounting system from Nascent Design adapts a
single engine for swapping between multiple machines. This system
requires no tools and it takes less than 30 seconds to replace failed
engines on site. Engines can be swapped between seasonal machines and
stored separately. The Power Shifter is available for 3- to 10-hp
horizontal shaft equipment including mixers, trowels, blowers, log
splitters, generators, snow throwers, de-thatchers, aerators, chippers,
sprayers, washers, compressors, pumps, edgers and tillers.

Truck-mounted aerial
device
Bronto Skylift introduces the
model S-170 XDT truck-mounted aerial device, which features a horizontal
outreach of more than 115 feet and is capable of lifting a three-person
crew and their equipment to a 170-foot platform height. The boom is
interlocked with the outriggers and cannot be operated without their
proper deployment. A single control button activates the outriggers and
leveling system, which can be positioned in less than a minute.
