Essex Crane Rental Posts Improved Fourth-Quarter and Full-Year 2011 Revenues

Essex Crane Rental Corp., including its subsidiary Coast Crane Rental posted $16.6 million in equipment rental revenue in the fourth quarter, an increase of 36 percent compared with $12.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2010. For the full year, the company posted $58.9 million, compared with $38.3 million a year ago, an increase of 53.8 percent, although largely attributed to the addition of Coast.
CRA Rental Rally Well Received by Rental Attendees

California Rental Association began its Rental Rally Tradeshow yesterday, with more than 130 exhibitors participating and more than 100 rental companies attending. While most exhibitors interviewed by RER didn’t necessarily expect huge sales, they welcomed the opportunity to connect with long-time California rental customers and possibly develop new customers.
CRBC Presents $1 Million Check to California Rental Association

The California Rental Association was presented with a check for $1 million at its Rental Rally Tradeshow in Pomona, Calif., this week by Bob Phares, president of California Rental Benefits Corp. The funds were the balance remaining after returning all of the capitalization collected during 20 years from CRBC policyholders.
United Rentals Completes Notes Offering

United Rentals this week announced that its subsidiary, UR Financing Escrow Corp., completed offerings of $1,325 million aggregate principal amount of its 7.625 percent senior unsecured notes due 2022, $750 million aggregate principal amount of its 7.375 percent senior unsecured notes due 2020 and $750 million aggregate principal amount of its 5.75 percent senior secured notes due 2018. Each series was sold to qualified institutional buyers in accordance with Rule 144A under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and outside the United States in accordance with Regulation S under the Securities Act.
Ritchie Bros. Sells $48 Million in Forth Worth Auction

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers sold more than $48 million of equipment and trucks at a two-day unreserved public auction in Fort Worth, Texas, March 8 and 9. Equipment highlights in the auction included three late-model, low-hour Komatsu HD785-7 100-ton rock trucks, all sold to a single online buyer from Alberta, Canada for $900,000 each. More than 3,200 items were sold in the auction.

Emeco Planning to Rent Mining-Related Equipment in Chile

Australia-based rental company Emeco is preparing to establish a new mining equipment rental business in Chile beginning July 2012, the company announced on its website. Emeco Holdings Limited approved the final investment decision to expand into the copper-rich mining region of Chile. An initial investment of $50 million has been committed, which represents 10 new 240-tonne trucks plus related ancillary equipment and working capital.
Australia's Onsite Rental Group Acquires Queensland Rental Company

The Onsite Rental Group, one of Australia’s largest equipment rental companies this week acquired Q-Air, further consolidating its growth in the Queensland state. The acquisition of Q-Air, based in Gladstone, Australia, opens new opportunities for Onsite in the fast-growing Surat and Bowen Basin regions, bringing new customers and increasing service opportunities for existing customers.

Schiller Grounds Care Achieves Safety Milestone

Schiller Grounds Care, manufacturer of BOB-CAT, Bunton, Classen, Little Wonder, Mantis, Ryan and Steiner brand outdoor power equipment, recently achieved a workplace safety milestone in its Johnson Creek, Wis., facility, reaching 4 million man-hours without a lost time injury. The feat, which took just under 12 years to accomplish, earned the company the Liberty Mutual Group’s Silver Safety Excellence Award for safety excellence in the workplace.
