Shopping at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2008
Conexpo-Con/Agg 2008 is likely to draw more than 100,000 visitors, each of them with something different in mind. Some are looking for an education in their field through the show's many tutorial sessions. Others are looking to network or drum up additional business. And some are just looking for a chance to get to Las Vegas and misbehave. Conexpo-Con/Agg certainly does have a little something for everyone. But what's truly impressive about the event is not the business opportunities or even the slot machines in the hotels.

Nope. Conexpo-Con/Agg really is about its massive selection of equipment spread across more than 2.28 million net square feet of floor space. It literally is impossible to see it all; Rock Products has tried. So to make things a little easier, here are a few of the more impressive items that visitors might want to check out.

Flexco's New 900 Series Cutter
Flexco will introduce the 900 Series Cutter designed to safely and accurately cut belts up to 1 1/2 in. (38 mm) thick. Precise cuts are achieved through the robust blade design, gently serrated belt grip surface and the single-sided clamp force, which allows the belt to fall free from the cut line.

The 900 Series Belt Cutter meets Flexco Safe standards as it has been specifically designed for operator safety. The blade is totally enclosed during the entire cutting process and is safely stored within the cutter when not in use. Also, the T-top blade design helps protect users from injury.

The 900 cutter slides easily into position and the upper clamp beam is engaged to speed the cutting process. The cut line can be aligned with clear visibility, and the torque required to cut the belt is dropped by more than 50% compared to other cutters. When the cut is complete, use the quick-release clamps to remove the top beam by simply depressing a lever.

Kleemann USA Mobile Plants
Kleemann Inc. USA will exhibit two large but versatile mobile aggregate processing plants, one based around a primary impact crusher, and one around a primary jaw crusher.

The impactor-based MOBIREX MR 130-Z is a closed-circuit machine with an independent, two-deck pre-screen before the primary impact crusher box. Material is dropped onto a feeder, scalped over the independent pre-screen and through an onboard screen after the crusher, from which oversize is recirculated back into the crusher. It is two machines in one: a crusher and a screen box, all on one chassis.

Kleemann also will exhibit the MOBICAT MC 120-Z. The 120 Z, with its large 48 x 32-in. jaw crusher, has a fully independent double-deck pre-screen with a feeder under the crusher. The machine is powered by an onboard, fuel-efficient diesel electric generator; the complete machine weighs in at 72.5 tons, or 145,000 lb.

Lippmann Large-Model Jaws
Lippmann will display its 3650 jaw crusher. The 3650 is 88,000 pounds of primary jaw constructed for high productivity, the company says. Compare the oversized heat-treated shaft forged of special alloy that handles overloads and hard material. Extra large, radial thrust, premium quality tapered roller bearings withstand extreme shock and radial thrust loads, and offer substantially more bearing life than competitive models. The crusher has larger stroke, deeper crushing motion and steeper nip angle.

Lippmann large-model jaws feature a heavier, stronger one-piece frame, stress-relieved for optimum reliability. The company says optional hydraulics save hours and allow the settings to be adjusted on the fly. Wear parts include toggle bearing wedges, bearings, toe-wear liners on the swing and stationary jaw, and hardened barrel wear liners to protect the pitman. Reversible jaw dies also assure maximum wear life, the company says.

The Lippmann exhibit will incorporate four plasma-screen TV monitors displaying video footage of Lippmann jaw crushers in action at various rock crushing and recycling installations throughout the country. Literature, copies of the DVD video presentation, and other premiums will be available at the booth. Lippmann personnel will be on hand to answer any questions and address specific needs.

Telsmith SBX Cone Crusher
Telsmith Inc., an Astec company, will introduce its SBX Cone Crusher at the Astec/Telsmith Booth #5135 in Central Hall. Representing an evolution in design from the popular SBS cone crushers, the model SBX is engineered with new internal components and crushing chamber profiles that accept larger feed. With an extra-coarse feed opening, the SBX is ideal for secondary crushing circuits that once required larger crushers.

Its advanced features and benefits include a Dynamic Adjust system that enables remote adjustment under load; a maintenance-free hydraulic Anti-spin system that extends manganese life, a large-stroke chamber clearing system that delivers safe and quick recovery from a shutdown, and heavy-duty components for crushing.

Although the Model SBX is designed for compatibility with any fully automated plant, SBX cone crushers can be combined with TRAC 10, a stand-alone crusher control system that delivers automation benefits without the big-budget hassles of completely reworking plant controls. The TRAC 10 remote SBX automation control system is yet another avenue to improved performance at lower costs per ton. It allows operators to efficiently monitor crusher operations (while protecting the crusher from overload), easily make adjustments to crusher settings, and conveniently collect operational and maintenance data -- all without having to rework existing plant controls.
The SBX Cone Crusher Series is available in three models -- the 44SBX (300 hp); 52SBX (400 hp); and the 57SBX (500 hp).
