Web is a Vast Resource Library for Corporate AV Managers

Did you know that "ambient light affects contrast by turning rich, deep burgundies and hunter greens into pastels?" Or that a 72-point type font on your computer screen should be readable from 10 feet away?

Those are a couple of tidbits from Roadtools.com, one of a growing community of information sources using the World Wide Web to put large amounts of technical info and AV improvement tips in the hands of corporate AV users. No website will take the place of a committed, proactive AV integrator, and few if any sites promise to enable you to design your own facility. Yet for the typical client with plenty of questions but limited information resources, the Web can be a happy browsing ground.

Lockheed Martin Selects Pesa Routing for USSTRATCOM Upgrade Project
Lockheed Martin has selected a Pesa Cheetah V5 routing system to be used in the Command Center Upgrade (CCU) project for the United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) headquarters at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska.

The Cheetah system selected is a digital multi-rate routing switcher actively populated with 240 inputs and 224 outputs. The Cheetah V5 system converts incoming, high-resolution RGBHV analog video sources to digital and then distributes them to native RGBHV destinations over both coax and fiber-optic cable. This innovative new architecture allows for an in-frame expansion to 512 inputs and outputs of RGBHV in only 41 rack units.

Crestron Dualtouch Technology Switches Automatically
Crestron's exclusive DualTouch Technology (patent pending) combines fingertip-operated touchpanel control with a precision pen-based drawing tablet to produce a flexible presentation solution. Using the 15in. DTT-15V2 or 18in. DTT-18 with the UPX-2, a presenter may touch the screen with a fingertip to close the drapes, dim the lights, and control AV sources, just as with any Crestron touchpanel. Then on the fly, the presenter can annotate freely over an AV presentation using the wireless pen. Switching between control and annotation is automatic and instantaneous.

Crestron's DTT-15V2 and DTT-18 are touchpanels designed for use with the UPX-2 universal presentation system.
