Kramer Electronics' Long
Distance DVI
Kramer Electronics introduced four optical DVI
cables, models 6010, 6020, 6030, and 6050, capable of sending DVI
signals from 33ft. to 164ft. without the need for repeaters.
XGA resolution DVI signals typically can travel about 25ft. to 30ft.
over copper-based cables before the signal is lost. Kramer's new
fiber-optic cables have converters built-in to each DVI-D connector on
both ends of the cable. These converters turn the signals into
fiber-optic light pulses so the signals can travel much greater
distances. Kramer's new fiber-optic DVI-D cables come in four pre-cut
lengths. The 6010 is 32.8ft., the 6020 is 65.6ft., the 6030 is 98.4ft.,
and the 6050 is 164ft.
