Design-build Systems Gain
Popularity
As soon as they move beyond the basicsbeyond the
simplest pulpit mics and speaker arrays, for examplemedia managers
in houses of worship often face some daunting decisions about just how
to approach larger installations. These installs can range from more
sophisticated video systems to entirely new sanctuaries, and large sums
of money are often at risk.
Both the general construction industry and the AV business have
evolved a variety of strategies for executing larger projects. The
choice of a so-called "project delivery system" is often the first
building block of success...or trouble. more>>

Furman Sound Power Conditioners
Protect New Grace Church AV Installation
Grace Church, a large non-denominational house of
worship serving the Twin Cities metropolitan area of Minnesota, has
completed an upgrade of its audio/video system. Performed by Audio Logic
Systems of Bloomington, Minn., the installation included the
purchase of six new PL-8 Pro Series II 20-amp power conditioners from Furman Sound, plus
the reinstallation of an HDS-16 headphone/audio distribution system and
eight accompanying HRM-16 headphone/audio remote mixers for a new Yamaha PM1D monitor
desk.
The three-week project involved completely upgrading the FOH system,
installing a modern replacement, and adding a monitor desk to the
system. "Grace Church needed cost-effective, reliable power conditioners
that would protect their Yamaha PM1D, DM2000, and [Audio-Technica]
AT5000 series wireless system without creating any audio hums," says
Jason Kartak, who led the installation. "Furman Sound has a great
reputation for reliability and cost-effectiveness, which is why we chose
them over other manufacturers for this project." more>>
