Electronics Recycling Catches On
With Earth Day just around the corner and the analog shutoff looming on the horizon, efforts to create coordinated recycling plans prior to February’s TV digital TV conversion appear to be paying off.

Sony and Waste Management reported last week that their joint program for recycling in the Minneapolis area generated 4 million pounds of electronics over a single weekend. According to the companies, 42,000 consumers took part in the effort, delivering used electronics to five dropoff locations in the area. Best Buy also provided financial muscle for the recycling drive. To spur involvement, sponsors awarded participating consumers with a coupon to attend an environmental event at the local zoo. more>>

Flamboyant Home Theater Ambience
The scope of design and installation was fairly typical with a new home of this caliber and included structured cabling, phone system, whole-house audio system, flatscreen installations, and security system. However, the home theater part of the project—despite our experience with large home theaters—would require special attention because our client is a very successful movie cineplex owner/operator in the Midwest. WireLogic's New Green Initiative Transitions Products to Eco-Friendly Packaging
In an effort to promote responsible custodianship of the Earth by reducing package waste and increasing the use of recycled materials, The Quest Group today announced a new company green initiative. In accordance with the initiative, The Quest Group is transitioning all of its WireLogic products to new eco-friendly packaging. WireLogic is migrating to the use of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in its packaging, as PET breaks down in the environment at a far more rapid pace than the commonly used polyvinyl chloride (PVC). To eliminate waste, the company will use recyclable/recycled paper products and transition to bubble pack instead of clamshell packaging, reducing the amount of plastic used. more>>
