Texas Minister's Death Prompts
New Safety Concerns
They say bad news travels fast, and certainly the
reports of the electrocution of Pastor Kyle Lake of University Baptist
Church in Waco, Texas, have spread rapidly through the worship media
community. Along the way, they have prompted both some irrational
overreactions and a measured re-assessment of how safety isor
isn'tbeing promoted in America's houses of worship.
Rev. Lake had just stepped into his church's baptismal font, into
water roughly waist-deep, when he reached out to adjust a microphone
that was producing an unwelcome hum. The resulting electric shock
stopped the pastor's heart, which paramedics and doctors at a nearby
hospital were not able to restart. more>>

Sennheiser Provides Microphones
for Dresden's Frauenkirche Reconstruction Project
For more than six decades, Sennheiser has
been making a difference in the lives of the countless audio
professionals and enthusiasts who rely on its products every day. But
for Sennheiser, making a difference goes far beyond the recording studio
or performance stageas its role in the world's best-known
humanitarian projects clearly attests. In Dresden, Germany, for example,
the company is helping to enrich lives through its donation of
microphone technology for the city's beloved Frauenkirche (Church of Our
Lady), a 300-year-old church that recently re-opened after 12 years of
painstaking reconstruction.
For decades, ruins were all that remained of the Frauenkirche. In
1993, reconstruction began to bring the magnificent 18th-century baroque
church back to life. Today, the building has all the modern technical
facilities of the 21st century, including electricity, air conditioning,
and state-of-the-art audio technology donated by Sennheiser. The
Frauenkirche is also equipped with Sennheiser's GuidePort visitor
guidance system, which tells visitors all they need to know about the
church and its moving history. more>>

Suburban Chicago Church
Welcomes QSC Audio to its Family
The faithful, small but growing congregation of the
Family Life Church in Chicago recently had its faith rewarded. After
many long Sunday meetings in a makeshift sanctuary in the Elgin O'Hare
Commerce Building, the church received a truly remarkable donation
a new home.
The gift of a classic church building, not far from the existing
facility, was a welcome one indeed, and the Family Life staff
immediately set about making it their own, beginning with a new sound
system based around ModularDesign (MD) series loudspeakers from Costa
