Leasing AV Systems Can Appeal
to Church Buyers
Creating the best possible technical solution to the
needs of a house of worship is often just part of the challenge in
marketing audiovisual systems in this major market segment. Helping the
client pay for the new system in the most logical and effective way is
also a critical element.
Today, both mainstream commercial customers and clients in worship
venues often look at leasing as a practical way to finance major
investments in audio and video systems. Often, church buyers are
especially drawn by the advantages of a well-structured lease. more>>

Danley Sound Labs Subs Solve
Low-end Problems at Perimeter Church
Perimeter Church, a progressive Presbyterian
ministry based in Atlanta, began as a way to spread its message within
the city's ever-evolving culture and expanding city limits. In its goals
to reach "the unchurched," Perimeter has always aspired to do great
things on a large, appealing, alluring and, most importantly, effective
scale.
Recently, the technical staff at Perimeter determined that one
particular audio problem in the church's sanctuarya significant
low-frequency deficiencywas no longer effective or tolerable.
Something had to be done, but an acoustic redesign recommended by the
designing audio consulting firm just wasn't feasible. At that point,
Mike Hedden and his firm dB Audio & Video, a Georgia-based
"design-build-install" audio contractor, were asked to stage a demo with
the manufacturer of sound reinforcement loudspeaker technology he's
proud to championDanley Sound Labs. more>>

Shootout At Rolling Hills:
Innovative Nexo Install For Oregon House Of Worship
System designer and integration firm Delta Systems
Integration of Portland, Ore., has recently completed installation
of a highly innovative Nexo sound reinforcement system at Rolling Hills Community
Church in Tualatin, Ore. This spacious sanctuary is the first
worship venue in the world to use a combination of Nexo GEO T tangent
arrays with a Nexo Alpha cluster.
A three-company loudspeaker system shootout established quick
consensus between Rolling Hills Community Church (RHCC), RHCC Director
of Media Services John Harrel, and the team from Delta, coordinated by
Mark Smith. The shootout was staged at a similar-sized church, where
manufacturer representatives each flew a mono cluster using
factory-specified amplification and processors. Nexo's small Alpha
cluster proved to be the turning point in the selection process.
Listening to the pastor through a headworn mic and the Alpha system,
church executives, John Harrel, and Delta engineers alike thought the
results so clear-cut that the church insisted that a center cluster of
Alpha be included in the final specification. more>>

NTI Introduces TalkBox for
Speech Intelligibility Testing
Speech intelligibility testing used to be the province
only of large distributed paging or dedicated emergency systems.
Although such systems are in place in many buildings, there are also
typically far more larger venue sound systems in place at thousands of
other locations. Local, national, and international regulations are now
either requiring speech intelligibility testing for this critical
aspect, or are gradually moving toward such testing requirements for
reinforcement systems as well. We need look only as far as various club
fires and other panic disasters of the last few years to see why this is
wise, whether yet required or not. STI-PA testing as standardized by TNO
meets ISO requirements and is the preferred method for testing amplified
systems.
NTI's
TalkBox, combined with portable STI-PA speech intelligibility
measurements in the AL1 Acoustilyzer, allows sound systems to be tested
for STI-PA speech intelligibility from end-to-end, where a simple
intelligibility measurement could possibly make the difference between
life and deathreducing injuries and mitigating potentially huge
liability claims. more>>
