Fairmont Hotels Support Socially Conscious Events
The Toronto-based Fairmont Hotels chain recently stressed its commitment to help event and meeting planners create events with meaningful social impact. The Fairmont San Jose in San Jose, Calif. (see photo), has been the site of Fairmont's Meetings that Matter program. Here, planners booking a new meeting for dates in 2009 through June 30, 2010, with a minimum of 50 room nights can have 10 percent of the room revenue generated by the booking donated to a charitable organization that resonates most strongly with attendees or to a local organization in need.

Hyatt Regency Bellevue Offers Expanded Event Space
Located nine miles from downtown Seattle, the Hyatt Regency Bellevue in Bellevue, Wash., has just completed a $185 million expansion, which has boosted total meeting space to 60,000 square feet. The Grand Ballroom offers 23-foot ceilings and 48 custom chandeliers; the 17,745-square-foot ballroom can also be broken into nine smaller spaces. The street-level Evergreen Ballroom, at 13,755 square feet, features high-end finishes and custom light fixtures. Seven conference suites are also available.

Miami's Sky Terrace Offers Dramatic Views
Sky Terrace, located on the 11th floor Sky Lobby level of Miami's Bank of America Tower at International Place, offers more than 10,000 square feet of keystone ground with seating in place for 68 guests; the venue can host up to 1,000 guests for receptions. Rental packages include security, restroom attendants, post-event janitorial, an on-site engineer and event management. ARAMARK subsidiary Classic Fare Catering & Events oversees catering, including offering a certified wedding planner.

Atomic's Confetti Cloth Provides 3D Effect
Atomic Rental is introducing three new swags and sheers into its line of drapes. "Confetti Cloth" (see photo at left) is made from an innovative fabric that creates a multidimensional effect when hung, according to the manufacturer. The cloth is an ideal backdrop in stage applications, and its finished look makes it suitable for ballrooms and smaller venues where it will be displayed close to guests. Also available are Spun Gold sheers and Indigo Velvet swags.

Belle Paquet Offers Specialized Gifting Services
Gifting company Belle Paquet strives to offer unique items at the best prices for event planners, management says. New Compact FogScreen Available
The innovative FogScreen projection system, which projects images onto water mist, is now available in a compact version. The FogScreen eZ is 32 inches wide by 48 inches tall, and requires only one water line and one power plug to operate. Projections literally float in the air, and guests can walk through them, the manufacturer says.
