DRY
VAN TRAILER ORDERS LEAD 103% INCREASE IN JUNE
June commercial trailer net orders were up 103 percent from a very
weak June of 2009, boosted by a 164% increase in dry vans for the year,
according to ACT Research Co. (ACT). Through June, year-to-date net
orders for trailers are up 74 percent.
GM'S
CNG VANS READY IN THE FALL
General Motors has finalized the production process for its Compressed
Natural Gas (CNG) powered Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana full-size
vans, saying that it will be able to deliver to fleet customers complete
vehicles with a fully integrated and dedicated CNG fuel system this
fall.

Talbert Manufacturing announced its newly designed 75-Ton Double

The new, aerodynamic Kenworth T700, which has the lowest aerodynamic

Kenworth Truck Company manufacturing plant in Chillicothe, Ohio.

CARB OFFER PROPOSALS TO RECONSIDER 2010 SCR ENGINE CERTIFICATION
REQUIREMENTS
Navistar International Corp said that the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB)
have presented preliminary proposals aimed at the compliance loopholes
found in current 2010 liquid-based SCR systems.

RECESSION UNLIKELY, FTR SAYS
The economy may not be rebounding as quickly as most would like, but
the chance that the US will suffer a double-dip recession is remote,
economist Noël Perry said during the FTR Associates “State of the
Freight” webinar.

8 NET ORDERS HIT 2010 HIGH
Net orders for heavy-duty Class 8 commercial vehicles reached the
highest level of the year in June, with a 93 percent increase compared
to June of 2009, according to ACT Research Co. (ACT).

2Q NET INCOME UP $197 MILLION
Eaton announced that second-quarter sales were $3.38 billion, 16
percent above the second quarter of 2009, and net income was $226
million, compared to $29 million in 2009.
RUSH
ENTERPRISES' 2Q GROSS REVENUES UP 9%
Rush Enterprises, Inc. reported that gross revenues for the second
quarter from continuing operations totaled $329.8 million, a 9%
increase from gross revenues from continuing operations of $302.6
million reported for the second quarter ended June 30, 2009.

STILL CONCERNED ABOUT CREDIT AVAILABILITY
Motor carriers are considering engines, EOBRs and credit availability
as they plan for equipment purchases in the year ahead, according to the
Business Expectation Survey for 2010’s second quarter by Transport
