Lines
The transmission uprating course discusses some of the basic design

FL Safe Selection of Weather & Conductor Parameters for Line
Ratings
Through publication of the facility rating document, FAC-008-1, FERC is
insisting that transmission owners have a well-documented logical basis
for power equipment thermal ratings including overhead lines. This class
explains the historical basis for "worst-case" weather conditions used
in calculating the thermal rating of overhead lines, summarizes the best
concepts from the technical literature including both CIGRE and IEEE
standards, and provides guidance to making accurate field measurements

Low & Medium Voltage Circuit Breaker Maintenance
Students will learn safe and proper maintenance and testing procedures
on a variety of circuit breakers. Students will disassemble backboard
current
path, perform maintenance, reassemble and adjust circuit breakers.

device testing will be performed on low-voltage circuit breakers, along
with other
standard tests. Power factor, vacuum bottle integrity and
over-potential testing

Basic Electrical Technical Skills
This 4-day hands-on course concentrates on developing the skills and
knowledge for new or under-experienced employees who are required to
work with the electrical group. Basic terminology and basic concepts are
reviewed including. Single-line prints are used to familiarize attendees
with common equipment found in electrical systems, followed by a tour of
a facility to identify this equipment. Dataplates are interpreted,
limitations of various test equipment is discussed as well as the proper
way to use multi-meters, solenoid testers and proximity testers. For

Short-Circuit, Device Evaluation & Arc Flash
This hands-on workshop helps develop a basic understanding of the
capabilities of ETAP for short-circuit analysis, protective device
evaluation, coordination/ selectivity, and arc flash analysis. It
provides the skills, knowledge, and techniques necessary to become
proficient in ETAP to conduct protective device coordination and arc
flash studies. The workshop covers system modeling, operation, and
evaluation of the elements during steady-state, and short-circuit

This course covers substation types, applications,
configurations, components and applicable maintenance and safety

resistance and a wide range of insulating liquid tests in lab.

NY Power Distribution System Economics
Teaches engineers how to develop practical solutions to effectively
minimize overall distribution system costs by use of macroscopic and

the relationship of these costs to the distribution system, and
application of project cost analysis to various types of distribution

SEL Feeder Relay Testing, TST-103
This course covers skills required to enter settings, test, commission,
and troubleshoot SEL relays. Students will: review skills required to
work with SEL relays; learn about specific distribution relay testing
considerations; practice the acquired skills by working with different
relays throughout the course; gain familiarity with the operating
principles of each type of relay; explore the features of SEL relay
technology to make appropriate choices when designing test routines. A
variety of SEL relays will be used during the training, including
overcurrent (SEL-551), directional overcurrent (SEL-351S), and

Protective Relay Maintenance, Solid-State
This course covers solid-state relay theory, application
