PECO has energized the first of five new distribution circuits from its new $22 million electric distribution substation that will meet the needs of the former Navy Yard and serve parts of South Philadelphia.

NorNed, the Longest Electricity Cable in the World, is Operational
Tuesday, May 6, the longest high-voltage cable in the world was successfully put into operation: the NorNed cable between the Netherlands (Eemshaven) and Noorway (Feda), with a length of 580 km.

Tampa Electric Upgrades Distribution System as Part of Storm Plan
As part of Tampa Electric’s storm plan, filed with the Florida Public Service Commission, Tampa Electric plans to convert four existing 4-kV distribution circuits that serve parts of the South Tampa area to the company’s standard 13-kV circuit configuration.

Nexans to Supply Submarine Power Cable for Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm
Nexans has been awarded a contract by StatoilHydro ASA with an estimated value of 24 million Euro, to supply the submarine export cables for the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm project, located approximately 20 km offshore from Sheringham, on England’s north Norfolk coast.

TERNA Loan Approved for Building Cable to Sardinia
TERNA S.p.A., Italy, has signed an agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) for a 300 million euro loan intended for building the new 500 kV direct current high voltage submarine cable between the Italian peninsula and Sardinia: SA.PE.I..
