Kimpton Chief Talks Adaptive Reuse

CEO Mike Depatie claims Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is likely the biggest adaptive-reuse boutique hotel company in the country. Of the company’s 52 properties, 12 are adaptive-reuse projects. The latest project is the Schofield Building in the heart of Cleveland, OH. Built in 1902, the 110-year-old office building will open this year as a 161-room Kimpton-style boutique hotel with a chef-driven restaurant. The yet-unnamed property, owned by CRM Real Estate, will include 25 luxury apartments and ground-floor retail. Read more.

How much money will you be donating to political candidates for this fall’s presidential and other elections? I doubt if it will be anything close to what these super-rich hotel guys can afford and have so far donated to various Super PACs, but it’s just as important you participate in the process this year and every year. • The Alfus Group, a NYC-based executive search firm, celebrates its 20th anniversary. The company will launch a new website.

• Invest West Corp. and Pacifica Hotel Co. buy 127-room Belamar Hotel in Manhattan Beach, CA from Larkspur Hotels. Terms of the sale were not released.
