Texas
Governor Vetoes TV Recycling Bill
Texas Gov. Rick Perry has vetoed a bill that would
have required television manufacturers to provide Texas residents with
free recycling of the devices. According to an article by Green Right
Now, “Perry acknowledged that the bill would make it easier for
consumers to recycle old televisions but said ‘it does so at the
expense of manufacturers, retailers and recyclers by imposing onerous
new mandates, fees and regulations’ and would also “generate unfair
results and stifle competition.”

The Curotto Can is the result of fifteen years of on-the-route
development. It has the highest productivity of any automated curbside
collection system. Per shift the Curotto Can services more homes than
either an ASL or a rear loader. The cab forward pickup both reduces
workman's compensation costs and allows the operator to easily see and
remove contaminants from the waste stream. The Curotto Can can be
ordered complete and installed on new front loaders or retrofitted to
existing units.

We’re hearing more and more discussion of manufacturer responsibility,

The
Load Less Traveled
To Nick Fahey, area manager of the family-owned
Southern Oregon Sanitation hauling firm in Grants Pass, Ore., the clunky

An
Awakening Giant?
Rising electricity costs and a growing interest in
alternative sources of energy sparked the re-emergence of the
waste-to-energy (WTE) industry a couple years ago, after the industry
had endured more than a decade of stagnation. Since then, oil prices
have spiked, raising the cost of fuel for trucks hauling waste to
landfills, and landfill tipping fees have increased, providing more
momentum for WTE's resurgence.
