Industry Briefs

EIA Women's Council Distributing Children's Coloring Book in Afghanistan
The Washington-based Environmental Industry Associations (EIA) Women's Council is distributing a children's coloring book about waste and recycling in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The book, entitled "Where Does My Garbage Go?" is part of the Kabul City Initiative (KCI). KCI is a project organized by Burlington, Vt.-based Tetra Tech ARD, an international development consulting company. The book is published in English with a Dari translation and is part of a public education campaign for Afghani school children, in partnership with Kabul Municipality to raise awareness on keeping the city clean and green.

"This coloring book has been enormously popular with children since we introduced it in 2006," said Peggy Macenas, manager of the women's council. "We are excited to have this book used in Kabul."

All proceeds go to the EIA Women's Council programs, including academic scholarships for students pursuing careers in the environmental field.
